Feroz Khan’s brother Sanjay and nephew Zayed back out of giving an award to him after committing to it. Strange are the ways of the relationships in B-Town.

Last week, when the organisers of the Stardust Awards had gone to invite son Fardeen, brother Sanjay and nephew Zayed Khan to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Feroz Khan, all three confirmed their presence at the function. But a few days before the event both father and son, Zayed and Sanjay Khan backed out citing other commitments.

Says a source, “Initially, both Sanjay and Zayed agreed saying they would love to honour Feroz. However, while Zayed called a few days before the awards saying he was busy and couldn’t attend, Sanjay Khan backed out just two days before the show saying he had to attend another function! That left the organisers in a fix. Finally Jaya Bachchan graciously consented to present the award to Feroz Khan.”

The source adds, “Feroz Khan sent his son Fardeen to fetch his award. Khan Jr also read out a simple and moving note on his dad’s behalf.” It is believed that the actor’s health has detoriated tremendously and he had requested for his wheelchair to be brought onto the stage but at the last minute, his health did not permit him to come and collect the award personally.

Zayed Khan says, “It’s not true that we backed out at the last minute. And why wouldn’t Fardeen be asked to do that honour?” When informed that Fardeen did do the honour Zayed says, “I am glad and happy. There was no commitment from my side to attend as I am not in town.” Was he shooting out of town? Zayed says cryptically, “You can say that.”
