Zayed dives off the deep end

Most of the film, he says, is shot on or under the ocean. “The guys who’ve done the stunts for this film have worked on Titanic, Torque, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy.

The director Tony chose me because he felt the role was a physically demanding one. And I am in good shape. Predominantly, the story is about treasure buried at sea. I play a character called Sam, an experienced sailor. But more than that, he’s a great swimmer too!” says Zayed. Well, we hope you make ‘waves’ at the box office!

Zayed new mission is not filmy

Zayed Khan has been lying pretty low especially after “Mission Istanbul” bombed at the box office.

Zayed Khan-starrer Mission Istaanbul might not have worked at the box office, but that hasn’t stopped its director Apoorva Lakhia from signing on the actor for another project.

Lakhia has roped in Zayed for a remake of a big-budgeted Hollywood gangster epic. The film, which is being produced by Sa Re Ga Ma (HMV), is about the journey of a father and son through a series of adventures.

“HMV is right now in final stages of negotiations with the American producers of that film. So I wouldn’t like to reveal the title on record. But, yes, it’s a very different and unusual take on gangsterism,” Lakhia said. Continue reading ‘Apoorva Lakhia teams up with Zayed Khan yet again’

Zayed Khan ended up with stitches on his forehead after a stunt gone wrong for the action adventure Blue . But the mishap hasn’t intimidated the actor.

The debacle of his last release Mission Istanbul hasn’t disheartened Zayed Khan, who seems intent on proving himself as an action hero. In this bid to prove his mettle, the actor has been pulling out all the stops and putting his body through the rigours of dangerous stunts.

But one such stunt went horribly wrong on Sunday while Zayed was shooting in Phuket (Thailand) for director Anthony D’Souza’s action flick ‘Blue’. Continue reading ‘Zayed Khan undaunted by stunt gone wrong’

Zayed Khan, who’s currently into performing his own stunts, had an accident when he jumped out of a high-rise building in Bangkok while shooting for Blue. The fall went wrong and Zayed’s forehead hit the windshield of a car.

“The blood gushed out and was all over my face. It took a while for everyone to realise I was injured,” Zayed said.

After a visit to the hospital, a couple of stitches, heavy sedation and antibiotics on Sunday, Zayed was back to shooting on Monday morning. Continue reading ‘Zayed fell on face while doing stunt in Bangkok’

Zayed turns macho

What about the lover boy look that he started out with? “Yeah, change is inevitable, but that charm can be brought back with the right kind of roles. In fact, in a Vashu Bhagnani film that I’m doing, I’m going back seven years,” he says. So, why did he take up that role? “Now, that I’m slightly older, I want to see that part of my life from the perspective of this one,” he promptly answers. Continue reading ‘Zayed turns macho’

Zayed makes a hearty comeback!

But despite his last release, Cash, bombing at the BO, Zayed Khan has managed to bag three big banner projects this year. “It’s all my charm!” he quips. “On a more serious note, there comes a point when you just cut loose. An actor cannot handle everything on his own. I’ve realised that a good project has a good director. I was patient because I only wanted good work. I don’t mind sitting back and being idle. But I’m talented. I just needed to clear my head and re-analyse myself. It was always a question of what I see myself as,” he explains.

“I’m as versatile as a rainbow and can work within a wide spectrum. I’ll become anything my director wants me to be. I could do a romantic film, despite enjoying action films,” he says. Continue reading ‘Zayed makes a hearty comeback!’

He’s often the Khan who is left behind in the big picture, however as soon as an appearance on the big screen is eminent the buzz around Zayed Khan starts up once again. In a recent interview with Mid-day’s Shaheen Parkar, Zayed spoke about his upcoming releases, plans for the future and much more.

The actor starts by admitting that he is not superstitious though he does say he is quite God conscious. Zayed has made plans to visit the dargah in Ajmer before the big release of Mission Istanbul. Since the subject was on MI, Shaheen cleverly slid in a question regarding the so-called friction between him and Vivek. As expected, Zayed immediately declares the rumours childish and false and adds that the movie has scope for each star featured and though he and director Apoorva Lakhia were on the same wave length, he has not received any more mileage than the next person. In the end he says that once audiences see the movie the rumours will be proven quite untrue. Continue reading ‘Zayed Khan on being busy and choosy’

Double take

Director Apoorva Lakhia confirms, “We were shooting an action scene with 60 fighters flown in from India. Apart from the icy weather, there was rain, wind and sleet with puddles of water all over.

Though the fighters had warm clothes they were getting soaked right through and it was getting increasingly difficult to shoot. Zayed came up to me and said he wanted to go off an hour early. I was irritated and thought that he was going partying again.” Continue reading ‘Zayed Khan gives 50 lakh gift to crew’
