Sonu Sood replaces Zayed Khan in UTV’s next
0 Comments Published by Zayed Khan March 26th, 2008 in NewsUTV’s new project, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge, which took off on Sunday was suddenly hero-less Éuntil Sonu Sood stepped in with gallant dexterity. The cast initially read Zayed Khan, Kunal Khemu, Paresh Rawal and Soha Ali Khan. But then Zayed begged off at the last minute. Apparently, UTV and Zayed couldn’t agree on the price factor.
??Instead of wasting time and negotiating with Zayed , UTV immediately got in touch with their new blue-eyed boy Sonu Sood asking for immediate dates. Sonu panicked because the dates were given over to the Rajshri’s for Yeh Vivah Aisa Bhi. “But there was no way I was going to give up this chance,” relates Sonu Sood as he gets ready to enact what he calls the role of a lifetime. “After Jodhaa Akbar, UTV has indeed taken me under their wings. I’ve done pretty embarrassing things in the past like Sheesha. Suddenly, I’m making the right moves. And Dhoondte Reh Jaoge is definitely right.”
??Like several recent films like Om Shanti Om, Halla Bol, Mithya and Superstar, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge is set in the film industry. “I play this superstar who’s roped into a peculiar situation. I get to play 11 different characters. I don’t know why Zayed opted out. But I’d have been foolish to not accommodate it into my schedule. I had to request the Rajshris to adjust. They obliged. I’m shooting some of Dhoondte Reh Jaoge now and the remaining part later.” Continue reading ‘Sonu Sood replaces Zayed Khan in UTV’s next’

Gone are the days when a diminutive Salman Khan was shown beating a baddie twice his size. The fights now are among equals.
For the climactic battle in Apoorva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul, the reed-thin Zayed Khan put on 11 kg and weighed 75 kg for the first time in his life.
All because he had to take on the movie’s bad man Niketan Dheer, who was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 86 kg. Continue reading ‘Zayed Khan puts on 11 kg in new movie’
I feel like an emperor after marriage, says Zayed Khan
0 Comments Published by Zayed Khan March 5th, 2008 in NewsZayed Khan’s got the blues, literally. His hair has been styled with electric blue highlights, the new look for Anubhav Sinha’s Cash, which he’s currently shooting in Cape Town, South Africa with Ajay Devgan (“my first film with him”). Riteish Deshmukh, Esha Deol and Shamita Shetty.
“In Cash I play Danny, a guy who gets away doing anything and everything. He is not known to do something and get caught. He’s the fastest. He’s on the road, in water, everywhere. We are going to have a great chase of 10 jet skies in the climax. Danny is a small time con guy hired by Ajay for a job, which seriously backfires. As for the colour in my hair, I’m getting used to it and quite like it,” says Khan whose Rocky-The Rebel releases today.
Though he’s been to South Africa before, Khan says, “this is my first time in Cape Town and I’m loving it. We are having loads of fun shooting. Actually that’s what Anubhav told us. He said ‘Only if you are going to enjoy shooting for my film will I let you act in it’. And we are all having a blast here.” While Sinha’s earlier film Dus was an action film too, “this will be a super action film. You name it and we are going to do it in this one. There are gizmos and gadgets and we are doing some amazing stunts.” Continue reading ‘I feel like an emperor after marriage, says Zayed Khan’
Suniel Shetty and Zayed Khan escape bomb explosion
0 Comments Published by Zayed Khan March 5th, 2008 in NewsRecently, Suniel Shetty and Zayed Khan got almost blown apart by a bomb explosion in Jaipur while shooting for Apoorva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul. The film has unique action scenes under the supervision of action directors, Javed and Eijaz (Ek Ajnabi, Shootout At Lokhandwala).
Apoorva Lakhia says, “We have put up a huge set of a guerrilla camp away from Jaipur City. The scene involved a fight between the Al Qaida and the Northern Alliance where Zayed and Suniel have been captured and kept as prisoners. The scene involved four helicopters, 200 fighters and 20 explosions.
Suniel and Zayed had to run down a slope with a bomb exploding in the background but it exploded too close and they were showered with shrapnel.” Adds Zayed Khan, “Mission Istanbul has got to be the biggest and best action film I have worked in till today. I am battered, bruised, and have broken three bones but I still love it. Apoo has a vision for action. Continue reading ‘Suniel Shetty and Zayed Khan escape bomb explosion’
The music seemed peppier, the lights flashier and the crowd more in the mood to groove than ever. The reason became clear as the clock neared 11.40 pm and a countdown began in chorus.
Then, as the first strains of Dus bahane rang out, we saw Zayed Khan walk down the steps into Underground amid high-decibel cheers and screams. As the Dus star entered “clad in a cool military jacket and jeans, hair pulled in place with a brown bandanna” he was whisked away to the DJ console.
The mobile phone cameras were out in a flash to capture the star jiving to the title track from Dus. “Besides desserts, the people here are sweet. This city is rocking today,” gushed Zayed, adding a piece of advice for the guys in the house, “Women are meant to be loved, not understood.” Continue reading ‘Zayed Khan parties hard!’
